A Glimpse into History

The area now known as Glacier National Park was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, notably the Blackfeet in the east and the Flathead in the west. As European explorers arrived, the region's unparalleled beauty garnered attention, leading conservationists like George Bird Grinnell to advocate for its protection. Their efforts culminated in President William Howard Taft signing the bill that established the park in 1910. In 1932, Glacier National Park and Canada's Waterton Lakes National Park united to form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, symbolizing the friendship between the two nations.

Loaded with heirloom cherry tomatoes, crunchy bacon, creamy blue cheese crumbles, and a drizzle of homemade blue cheese dressing, this salad is not only delicious but absolutely gorgeous on the plate. It’s perfect as a starter for a dinner party or as a light lunch.

And the best part? It comes together in just minutes!
Why You’ll Love This Wedge Salad:
→ Crunchy, creamy, salty, and tangy in every bite
→ Gorgeous presentation for entertaining
→ Easy to customize with your favorite toppings
→ Fresh and colorful twist on a steakhouse classic
Wedge Salad Recipe

Ingredients:
For the Salad:
1 head of romaine lettuce, cut into 4 wedges (or iceberg)
1 cup heirloom cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered (mix of colors for visual pop)
4 slices crispy bacon, crumbled
1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
Salt & pepper to taste

For the Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk to thin)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar or lemon juice
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:
Make the Blue Cheese Dressing:
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
  2. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and vinegar.
  3. Fold in blue cheese crumbles.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Assemble the Salad:
  1. Wash lettuce in salad spinner. Cut into quarters. Place each wedge on a plate.
  2. Generously spoon blue cheese dressing over the top, letting it cascade down the sides.
  3. Scatter heirloom tomatoes around and on top of the wedge.
  4. Sprinkle with bacon crumbles and blue cheese.
  5. Finish with a little cracked black pepper.

Tips for Success:
For extra flavor, chill your lettuce wedges in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving.

Swap bacon for crispy pancetta or omit for a vegetarian version.

Drizzle with balsamic glaze for a sweet-savory contrast.

Serve with crusty bread or garlic toast for a heartier meal.

Pin It, Share It, Make It!
This wedge salad is proof that sometimes simple is best — especially when you take the time to use fresh, vibrant ingredients.
