Watch this Ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. This ceremony happens every hour during the winter and every half hour during the summer.
The Honor Guard has been guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Solider 24 hours a day, 365 days a year since 1937 and will be guarded until each unknown solider from World War I, World War II and Korea have all be identified.
The guard walks 21 steps, pauses for 21 seconds and then continues. 21 represents the 21 gun salute, the military's highest honor.
