The frozen blueberries give it that gorgeous purple color (and a delicious berry flavor), while the chia seeds and rolled oats make it extra satisfying. It’s the kind of smoothie that feels like a treat… but is secretly a powerhouse breakfast you can whip up in minutes.
Top it with a sprinkle of oats and a few berries, and you’ve got a picture-perfect smoothie that tastes just as good as it looks. Whether you’re starting your morning, fueling up after a walk, or needing a quick afternoon pick-me-up, this one is always a winner.
Serves: 1 large smoothie or 2 small
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1 tablespoon chia seeds (plus extra for topping if desired)
¼ cup rolled oats (plus extra for topping)
¾ to 1 cup milk of choice (almond, oat, dairy, etc.)
½ cup Greek yogurt (or plant-based yogurt)
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, but delicious)
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
Add the milk, yogurt, banana, blueberries, chia seeds, and oats to a blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy (about 30–60 seconds).
If you want it thicker, add more frozen blueberries or a few ice cubes.
Pour into a glass.
Top with extra oats and a few blueberries.
Optional Add-Ins:
1 tablespoon flaxseed for extra fiber
1 scoop vanilla protein powder for a high-protein version
A spoonful of almond butter for richness
Serving Tip:
For the thickest “smoothie bowl in a glass” texture, let it sit for 5 minutes after blending so the chia seeds thicken it up.
