Ingredients:
For the Burgers (4 servings):
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for the juiciest results)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or your favorite melting cheese)
- 4 sandwich rolls or burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Red onion slices
- Dill pickles
- Ketchup or your favorite sauce
- 2 large sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Step 1: Prepare the Sweet Potato Fries
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Toss the sweet potato wedges with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Spread evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Gently mix until just combined (don’t overwork or the burgers will be tough).
- Shape into 4 patties, slightly larger than your buns (they shrink while cooking).
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked to your liking.
- Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking, cover loosely, and let the cheese melt.
- Lightly toast the buns, if desired.
- Place the cheesy burger patty on the bottom half of each bun.
- Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle.
- Spread ketchup or your favorite burger sauce on the top bun and close it up.
Serve the burgers hot with a side of seasoned sweet potato fries, salad, and an ice-cold vanilla crème soda or lemonade.
