Dining at TimeOut Market Lisbon

Picture
Set in a former market hall with over 100 years of history, the Time Out Market Lisbon - or Mercado da Ribeira - is the best example of al fresco fine dining the world over.  This fantastic concept that started in 2014 has now spread to Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago, Montreal, and London.

The market showcases the best of Lisbon with everything from fresh fish, meats, regional cheeses, donuts and other delicious desserts and of course the famed Pastel de Natas.
I first visited TimeOut Market on my exploratory trip to Portugal in November 2021.  I ate the Bifana de Leitao Crocante P'King at Henrique Sá Pessoa which translates to crispy skin suckling pig sandwich that made me shimmy all the way down to the floor, then bring it back up!  A true party in your mouth!  Does food do that to you?

It was absolutely divine!

For those who have been around my blog for awhile, know that I'm gluten sensitive.  Normally, I wouldn't eat the bun, but I brought some Gluten Ease with me.  As it turned out, I only ate the bottom bun because who wants all those carbs.
When I returned in March 2022 (on my mission to find an apartment for my D7 visa application), I visited the market three times.  My AirBnB was just a 5 minute walk so it made sense, didn't it?

Again to have the suckling pig sandwich and then to have the famed octopus hotdog.

Also, I ate breakfast there.  Scrambled eggs and bacon which was not the best I've ever had.  The eggs were not seasoned and bland and the bacon is not the same as what I'm used to in United States.  But at least it was inexpensive.

TimeOut Market Lisbon is located at Av. 24 de Julho 49, 1200-479 Lisboa.  It's definitely worth a trip if you are visiting Lisbon or even if you live there.
