3.3 Celebration, Creation and Manifesting with the Moon
Celebration and Creation
“Life is made up of small pleasures. Happiness is made up of those tiny successes. The big ones come too infrequently. And if you don’t collect all these tiny successes, the big ones don’t really mean anything.” ~Norman Lear
The Myth that’s Keeping you Stuck
There’s a nasty myth in our culture: that women are broke and need to be fixed.
All too often, women immediately harp on her failures–how she screwed up her diet, failed to work on her website, and left laundry in the washing machine for three days. And when asked to say what went right, she stutters desperately trying to find something to say.
What is going right with you? Maybe you exercised at least once this week? What about when you left a few morsels on your plate rather than eating them? Could it be that you’re a great mother? What about helping your best friend move?
All of these things count. In fact, every little thing counts.
Obsessing over the negative is an addiction of the mind that stops you from blossoming.
What if you began to focus on your little victories instead of nit-picking and obsessing over your so-called flaws and failures? As Julia Cameron says in Blessings, “What we focus on, we empower and enlarge. Good multiplies when focused upon. Negativity multiplies when focused upon. ”
The choice is yours: which do you want more of?
Women have become so focused on fixing themselves that they can’t create a life they love. It would be like Van Gogh obsessing over a chip in his wall paint instead of painting The Starry Night.
If you want to create, you must first celebrate. So, here’s a new mantra for you: I celebrate every little thing.
The Power of Celebration
Did you leave a bite of cake on the plate? Celebrate!
Did you walk around the block during lunch? Celebrate!
Did you save $25 this week? Celebrate!
Did you have amazing sex with your partner? Celebrate!
Did you get the kiddos to school on time? Celebrate!
Did you feel glamorous at the company party? Celebrate!
Did you treat yourself to a romantic dinner? Celebrate!
Celebrate your life with the little things we do that we often overlook, the essence of who we are, our strengths, weaknesses, and successes. We also rave when something good happens, such as receiving an unsuspected check in the mail or the cake coming out of the oven perfectly. Everything.
When you begin to place attention on the things that are going well, they go even better. The one bite left on the plate, becomes two, and then three. The walk around the block becomes another block and then, possibly, a jog. The $25 saved becomes $50, and later, $1000.
The goodness will grow when you begin to spotlight and celebrate it! What you’ll discover is the more you celebrate, you’ll create more energy to create!
Deliberate Creators Don’t Wait; We Create!
Ask yourself this powerful question: what would you do with your life, if you weren’t trying to fix yourself?
Grab your journal and write down everything you would do.
Here’s some of the things that were on my list back in 1995:
learn Spanish
take ballroom dancing lesson
have more sex
travel more
learn to cook
And, guess what? These were not lofty goals. They were all simple pleasures that I had denied myself because I was always chasing something bigger.
As I mentioned in a previous lesson: wait = weight. Nothing and no one was going to save me. I had to save myself. I had to start creating a life I loved, not someday, but today!
The same goes for you. It’s time to stop making excuses – whether it’s money or your weight – and begin to create more joy in your life right from where you are.
If the excuses start to rise up, welcome them. They are gold – showing you the limiting beliefs that are keeping you stuck.
Don’t be a woman that lives by excuses. Be a woman that celebrates and creates what she desires.
The first step is to get real about what you’ve been waiting to create in your life.
Manifesting Processes
Manifesting with the moon phases is something I’ve been experimenting with over the past year or so with great successes. Since we have a powerful solar eclipse on March 20 and lunar eclipse on April 4th, I thought I would cover manifesting with the moon phases in this lesson.
I have one notebook that I use for both new moon and full moon manifesting, but you could use two different ones if you wanted.
1. New Moon Manifesting. The new moon is the birthing cycle. It has been used for centuries when farmers plant new crops.
The new moon phase is an optimal time for planning and seeding your intentions. Seedlings go through a gestation period before they break through the soil. This is also true for cultivating our ideas and clearing the way for our visions to manifest in reality.
Begin by setting aside a few minutes each month during the new moon phase to focus on your wishes. This will help give you clarity of mind.
When it comes to setting goals or planning ahead for your future there is no better time to get started than during the new moon. Any intentions stated or written down also carries power, so please take care in considering those things that you truly want. The saying "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it" is fair warning whenever setting your new moon intentions into motion.
You may choose to listen to music, smudge, burn incense while you write your New Moon intentions, but it is not necessary.
Within 48 hours after a new moon, write what you want to manifest. Open your notebook, and date the first page. Write down these words "I accept these things into my life now. This or something better manifests for me now, harming no one and for the highest good of all concerned” or something similar. Below your affirmation statement, begin writing down your desires.
Your list may consist of a single item or you may have several pages listing multiple items. Try not to limit yourself. If having many things in your life helps to fulfill you then don't deny yourself wanting these things. I personally don’t do any more than 10 items per New Moon.
Write down everything that you desire, no matter how little or simple. If it is something that makes you happy, write it down. Manifesting smaller items on our lists actually creates a steady flow of chi giving your list a boost. These smaller manifestations create movement, allowing an ebb and flow of the tides. We are dealing here with the moon cycles after all. Besides, sometimes we forget to appreciate the smaller pleasures in our lives while we are waiting for the BIG stuff to come in...but remember to celebrate (from above) everything, even the small stuff so that more will come to you.
If you only write statements like, "I want to win the lottery" in your notebook then you are limiting yourself by not allowing abundance to flow to you from a multitude of avenues.
As I mentioned above, we have a full moon March 20. It happens at 4:36 a.m. EDT. You can check a moon phase calendar for the upcoming new moons throughout 2015 and beyond.
Here’s an example of how I’ve used New Moon Manifesting....
I had a hysterectomy and bladder lift on August 20, 2014 which plunged me directly into menopause with full blown hot flashes and night sweats. By November, I had had enough of waking up in the middle of the night drenched, hot as heck followed by being bone chilling cold. So on the November 22nd New Moon, I wrote in my Manifesting Journal the following statements associated with my healing....
1. I want to easily find the sources and resources to have these hot flashes to totally leave my body.
2. I want easily find the sources and resources to have these night sweats to totally leave my body.
3. I find myself easily forgiving Dr. Wolpman (my gynecologist who I felt didn’t give me the whole story of what my surgery entailed and I was waking up every night and worrying that my 100+ stitches would fail, yadayadayada... and I started to be resentful of him) in a way that is empowering for me.
4. I have total healing in my pelvic region. (I still had phantom ovary pain and pain in my bladder. I also had sciatic pain due to being in the stirrups for the 5 hours of my surgery.)
By my December 5th check up I had no hurtful feelings toward him and I wasn’t waking up every night between 1 and 3 a.m. with nausea and worry. I’ve since decided to seek out another gynecologist but I no longer resent him and realize that he did a great job with the surgery.
I repeated wishes 1, 2 and 4 from my list in subsequent months (although this is not necessary).
I was led to start seeing a acupuncturist, Dr. Wald, shortly after writing this New Moon wish for my hot flashes and night sweats as I remembered one of my massage clients telling me back in 2003 that she did acupuncture for her menopause symptoms and it really helped her. She had mentioned that she did 6 weekly treatments every 6 months.
After the first session, the number of hot flashes diminished and I got immediate relief for the night sweats. He put me on some Chinese herbs and taught me what foods could cause hot flashes. By my next appointment, the hot flashes/night sweats had returned by they were no where near as bad as before the first treatment. I continued to see him every other week in November and December.
Due to the holidays and vacation, I didn’t get back in to see him for my 5th treatment until January 16 right before we went on another two week vacation. My hot flashes and night sweats are not completely gone but still better than they were. We returned from our trip on February 2. Right after we returned, I noticed that I didn’t have any more night sweats and haven’t had any since then as of me writing this. I still have an occasional hot flash but find they are related to something I ate or nerves/stress.
I know what you are thinking, what about #4 and the pain in your pelvic region? Hold on, I was just getting to that.
After we returned from our vacation, I decided to seek out a massage therapist and get 6 weekly massages to see if it would help with my abdominal pain and sciatica. I started weekly sessions on February 5th.
On March 15 (just after my 6th massage) almost 7 months after my hysterectomy (and almost 4 months after I wished complete healing), I am over the moon excited to say that I woke up that morning and I had absolutely no pain in my body. My left shoulder that has hurt for since January 2013 doesn't hurt (that was a bonus). My phantom ovary pain is gone. Post-surgical problems of sciatica and lower leg pain are gone. I have very few hot flashes and I haven't had night sweats since February 3rd.
2. Full Moon Manifesting. New Moons have to do with creation, manifestation, birth, and rebirth. The full moon completes the cycle, representing change, elimination or tying up loose ends and shedding light on the things that we no longer need to hold on to.
You can either do a Full Moon ceremony where scraps of paper written with what you want to release or change are put into a fire (or ripped up and thrown away) outdoors under the moonlight or you can simply write them in your Manifesting Journal. I usually only do 1-5 things that I want to manifest for the Full Moon. Your manifesting statements should be written within 24 hours of the exact Full Moon. Check the full moon calendar for the next upcoming full moon.
Recently, I used the Manifesting with Full Moon with a big toe nail injury that I’ve had since back in October. The whole left side of the toe nail was lifting off and I was in constant pain from it because it was always catching on things.
On our last Full Moon on March 5, I wrote “I leave behind all pain associated with my left big toe nail and have perfect healing.”
Here’s a photo of my toe nail before.
<a href="http://prosperousmassagepractice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Toe-Nail-Before.jpg"><img src="http://prosperousmassagepractice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Toe-Nail-Before-300x169.jpg" alt="Toe Nail Before" width="300" height="169" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3213" /></a>
The next day, I had an acupuncture appointment (my last of 6 appointments since November for my hot flashes/night sweats) with Dr. Wald. I decided to ask him to look at my toe and also if he had a recommendation for a Podiatrist that he knew. He did and recommended Dr. Danielson.
I immediately called Dr. Danielson’s office when I got home and he could see me on Monday, March 9th. I went to see him. He saw that there was new healthy growth underneath and that there was no fungus (which apparently is quite common with this type of injury). He clipped off the old nail, filed it and said that it would grow back normal in the next few months.
Here’s a photo of my toe nail after...
